What’s Happening in 2022?
2022 is a big year for TAAS!
On February 24 we hosted a panel discussion “Navigating Applied Careers” and sponsored the launch of the People of Color Applied Anthropology Network (POCAA). A recording of the panel discussion is available under the Resources tab.

To register for any of the sessions, please visit our Eventbrite sign-up. Zoom details will be provided via email to all registrants before the summit. Registration is free.

The purpose of the Texas Applied Anthropology Summit (TAAS) is to build relationships between anthropological practitioners, faculty and students across Texas and the surrounding region. Since 2016, TAAS has provided training in career development, data collection methods, and—most critically—opportunities for networking and mentoring.
Over the past four years, stemming in part by requests from the many students of color who attend the summit, we have sought to include discussions and networking opportunities specifically related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice. For the 2022 summit, this topic will be the theme and primary focus of the event.
Organizing Committee
The summit this year is led by an organizing committee comprised by anthropologists across Texas and beyond, working in a number of different fields and sectors. We hope that you will join us this year for career focused programming on topics such as networking, elevator pitches, and building portfolios, as well as technical sessions on consumer experience research, online data collection, and policy work. Threaded across the programming we will also lean into topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in applied anthropology.
